The Sony A6400 is a powerful mid-range mirrorless APSC sensor that delivers beautiful 24 Megapixel graphics and 4k video. The development of the autofocus system means that it will track and remain focused on subjects with greater success than any camera at its own cost whether you are still shooting stills or recording video, and the speed of the fast burst means it is also more ready for action than most competitors. The screen can finally flip-up by 180 degrees to face you by voting, and the extraordinary ability to keep recording for more than half an hour makes it ideal for conversations and events. It's annoying when you measure the microphone on a hotshoe, it will block the screen, but you can always use a bracket or a wired microphone, and while there is no headphone jack or dual card slot, that's normal for this price.

I would like to see a better battery, but at least you can enable the camera over USB which is used for longer videos or for a longer period of time after the loss of downloadable apps. What’s worse is the lack of built-in stability that only lasts on the A6500 in Sony APSC range - which is annoying because it has long been common in the full line of Sony frame. If you need IBIS, perhaps with unstable primes, the A6500 is still trying or at a higher price, but I personally like the A6400 for its advanced focus, long screen recording and selfie screen and even hotshoe limits. Since the previous A6500 followed the A6300 in just 8 months, it raises the question of whether there will be a stable version of the A6400 in the future, although it is possible with a premium you may not be willing to pay. And if you don’t need an A6400 upgrade, check out the A6300s with a discount, and if you don’t need 4k or fast bursts, Canon’s EOS M50 is always a great option for vloggers with a side screen and a low price. But personally, the A6400 fits well with my recording style and IBIS shortcomings aside, it’s a solid camera in the price range that I’m happy to recommend.

The A6400 is a Sony screenless camera in the middle of the APS-C, announced in mid-2019. It is an update to the popular A6300. Although it plays the same 24MP sensor like the A6300, as well as the same 4K and 1080p slower recording capabilities, it has many improvements that make it worth buying. This includes the best autofocus system with Animal Eye-AF support and object tracking. You also get a flip-up screen, which is very useful for self-photographers.
With S-Log support, the A6400 is an excellent upgrade compared to the A6100, if you plan to take video. Well, another thing to consider would be a good sound. Whether you're doing weddings, chats, YouTube videos or vlogs, you should invest in sturdy microphones to make sure the videos not only look good but also sound good. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of Sony’s best mics

BEST MICROPHONES FOR SONY A6400

We will be surpassing the total number of four A6400 mics in this guide, starting with two microphones with some advanced features (and more expensive). If you feel like you don't really need all the luxury features, you can definitely choose the two budget options we have included with us. Well, here is the best Sony A6400 microphone.

External Microphone

If you’re searching for an extremely compact microphone that still sounds pretty decent, the VideoMicro is the best choice in our opinion. Of course, don’t expect it to sound as good as mics mentioned above, but don’t forget we’re talking about a much cheaper microphone. Rode’s VideoMicro doesn’t have any advanced features, but it’s super lightweight and doesn’t need batteries to run. Instead, it’s powered by your camera. We believe the VideoMicro is a cheap and compact way of getting much better audio than by using the build-in mic from your camera.
