( RAW SAMPLE PICS & VIDEOS OF IPHONE X) Iphone X Camera Quality Test in Photography & Videography at Day,Indoor & Night by a Photographer

The iPhone X camera is a very capable beast. Apple has been making solid and reliable cameras for quite a few years now. But with the iPhone X, it has come to the market with something very impressive, indeed. And the shots you can capture with it have never looked better.

You have two 12MP rear cameras with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and phase detection autofocus. One is a wide-angle f/1.8 camera and the other is a 2x telephoto lens. The main idea is better depth perception, better low-light performance and more detail inside your shots.

The iPhone X's camera isn't as good as Google's Pixel 2 or Pixel 3, but it's pretty darn close and easily on par with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Huawei Mate 10. For most users, the iPhone X's camera will be more than adequate for capturing beautifully detailed images that look professional and smooth.

You also have things like Portrait mode to capture framed shots of people and objects with the background blurred. On the front, you have a 7MP camera that can be used for selfies and video calls. Performance is decent here, although I would have preferred to see a higher-resolution camera on the front considering how much the iPhone X cost at launch.

If you're shopping for a new iPhone in 2021 and beyond and want to save some money, I can wholeheartedly recommend the iPhone X. For me, the iPhone X is the best iPhone you can buy right now - it's now AND MUCH cheaper than on first startup. And you still get a LOT of calls.

I really love the iPhone XR, but the iPhone X has a better display and almost the same overall performance. I think if you're torn between the two, the iPhone X is the one - it's cheaper, has a better OLED display and is just as powerful. Plus, Apple will support the iPhone X for years to come, so you'll have updates until, well… probably mid-2020!

And then of course there's the iPhone XS, which came out alongside the iPhone XR. You can check out the full details on how the iPhone X compares to the iPhone XS here.

The best iPhone for photography lets you take amazing photos and videos quickly and easily. You'll benefit from the world-class imaging technology that makes iPhone one of the leading camera phones today. But which iPhone is best for you for photography? It's not necessarily the latest and most expensive...

If you're mainly looking at the camera, sometimes an older model can be a smarter choice. This is because Apple tends to focus on upgrading various things with each iPhone generation. Sometimes the camera of one generation is similar to the camera of the previous model, but the screen is much larger or better quality. So if you can live with a smaller, lower resolution screen, you can get an equally great camera at a cheaper price.

That said, if money is no object, then the best iPhone overall for photography was either the iPhone 13 Pro or the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the latest flagships. With 4x optical zoom lenses and incredible night photography capabilities, these models truly redefine the boundaries of what smartphones can do. And the vanilla iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are no slouch either (see our iPhone 13 vs iPhone 13 Pro for the differences.)

But it's almost certain that the newly announced iPhone 14 series (opens in a new tab) will take the top iPhone crown - when they go on sale later in September 2020. We'll update this guide when we have a chance to get access to the new models, but in the meantime, check out our iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro guide (opens in new tab) to help you choose which one to pre-order.

But before these phones came into their own, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max were the best smartphones in the world for photography. And you know what? They are still great! With triple-camera rear arrays, they're capable of taking dazzling pictures, and the launch of the iPhone 13 series meant they could be picked up cheaper than at launch.

That increased affordability continues as you move through the lineup—though you also start to compromise on camera functionality. For example, the iPhone 11 only has two rear cameras. There's also the recently improved iPhone SE (2022), a powerful new iPhone in an iconic design with exceptional capabilities and performance at a much lower price point than flagship iPhones. So basically it's about balancing your needs and your budget.

To help you find the right balance, we've rounded up the best iPhones for photography and the best prices you can get them for right now.

Combining the design of the iPhone X and the legendary iPhone 4, iPhone 12 looks and feels fresh, with 5G, a better screen and improved cameras.

The new iPhone starts at £799 and sits between the slightly smaller £699 iPhone 12 Mini and the £999 iPhone 12 Pro and £1,099 12 Pro Max.

The iPhone 12 represents the biggest change to Apple's smartphone lineup since 2017's iPhone X, and feels like the biggest hit from the company's design teams in a decade.

It has the same all-screen design that Apple rocked in 2017 with the iPhone X, but the flat aluminum sides look and feel like the iPhone 4 from 2010 or the iPhone 5 from 2012. The combination feels fresh and is a significant upgrade over the design of last year's iPhone 11.

Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 12 has thinner bezels but the same large 6.1-inch display, making it 4.2mm shorter and narrower, 1.3mm thinner and 32g lighter. Combined with flatter sides and a grippy coating on the glass back, the iPhone 12 is much easier to hold and use with one hand.

The screen has also been significantly improved, replacing the older LCD with the newer OLED technology, which until now was reserved for iPhone "Pro" models. The display is brighter and more colorful, with significantly improved blacks and higher pixel density, making it sharper. It's one of the best displays you can get on a smartphone, and it has a new cover that Apple calls "Ceramic Shield," which it claims is four times more drop-resistant than the previous glass on iPhones. Anything that helps prevent broken screens is a bonus.

The new iPhone still has the old Lightning port on the bottom, not the newer and more universal USB-C port, and it has Apple's new MagSafe technology. The MagSafe system is a ring of magnets hidden in the back of the phone that accessories can snap onto, including the £39 MagSafe wireless charger, although you can still use any standard Qi-compatible wireless charger.
